WAVESTAGE THEATRE COMPANY LAUNCHES AUDITION SEARCH FOR LEAD IN SMASH HIT MUSICAL
Wavestage Theatre Company is excited to announce that we have now begun the search for a talented young performer to play the titular role in an upcoming production of the hit musical BILLY ELLIOT.
Based on the 2000 film of the same name and featuring music by Elton John, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy’s struggle to overcome adversity and make his dream of becoming a professional dancer come true, despite conflicting opinions from his family and community. Since its debut on London’s West End in 2005, Billy Elliot has gone on to win multiple awards and dazzle audiences across the globe.
Wavestage Theatre Company’s version of the smash-hit musical will open in April 2018 and will be directed by Artistic Director Sarah Langford.
The ideal candidate to play Billy is an athletic, musical, energetic young man between 10-13 years old with a background in ballet. Acrobatics, tap and singing are considered definite assets. Non-equity.
Audition videos will be accepted until July 30, 2017 to email@example.com. Candidates should submit two pieces of music: Electricity (in either C or D) and a musical theatre song of their choosing. Candidates should also submit a dance audition video highlighting their abilities in (1) ballet and (2) jazz or tap.
Rehearsals begin January 2018 in York Region.
