Wavestage Theatre Company's voice program is bringing people who love to sing together. Beginning October 3, 2016 on Monday nights at 6:40pm at Trinity Hall in Newmarket. We are committed to the enrichment of singers lives through the learning and performing of choral works. Join us for the experience and unique camaraderie of fine choral singing!
The Wavestage Choir is an elite all ages troupe. Weekly practices emphasize learning and performing music, and lessons in vocal technique, including proper breathing, rhythm, dynamics, timbre, correct diction, and phrasing. Music selections will be moving, enlightening, enlivening, healing, inspirational, fun, and will include a variety of musical styles. This includes, but is not limited to, gospel, pop, classical, folk, musical theatre, and cinema.
This Choir gives singers a chance to tap into the musical soul that lies within us and create something bigger than any of us could do on our own!
CONCERT PERFORMANCE: February 11, 2017 at Newmarket Theatre
As Cole Porter said, "anything goes"! Backwards Broadway is an evening of musical theatre excerpts that will be performed blind of race, age, & gender. Choir performers will be required to bring in 10 audience members to the final concert.
ABOUT THE CHOIR DIRECTOR
Praised as both an exceptional performer and an empowering teacher, Sarah Langford is devoted to promoting a deeper understanding of artistry and self-expression. Reviewers laud her as “vocally impressive and dramatically convincing,” while students describe her teaching as “creative,” “energetic,” and “inspiring.”
Sarah has had a wide variety of performance experience from the operatic stage to music theatre forum. She has performed in leading operatic roles across Europe and in North America. In addition, Sarah has been a guest soloist for the Vatican and a soloist for the Billy Graham ministry. She has two solo vocal recordings.
Sarah holds degrees in Psychology, Voice Performance Voice Pedagogy and Operatic Performance. She is a member of the National Association Teachers of Singing. Sarah is a recipient of the Celebration of Women Performance Award, a three time winner of the Johnson Cultural Achievement Award, as well as the recipient of numerous civic awards for her contributions to the arts in York Region. She has been recognized recognized by our Prime Minister for her contributions to arts education.
