I decided these last two years to venture around community and regional theatre companies to see where professional talent is sprung from in Ontario. Your production deserved my attention. The set was phenomenal. The story books were impressive and the woods were magical. Lighting was detailed and complicated and every scene had multiple angles. I am quite certain there were at least 500 calls in the first act alone. The costumes were well thought out and gave a sense of a story and of the grandeur of the fairy tale. Well directed and leaps and bounds above all shows seen so far.

This is musical theatre entertainment at its finest, by a company that grasps the essence of excellence in performance and storytelling. Wavestage Theatre Company is to be commended for raising the bar, and re-telling a tale of religion, judgement, shame, love, kindness in a way that was not only a delight to the senses, but leaves us asking, what is a monster, what is acceptance, what is it to be human. This story certainly has not lost its essence, and still holds up more than a century and a half later through this incredible production.

The Wavestage Follies production was mesmerizing! Outstanding performances, interesting choreography, evenly flowing production and passionately performed by a strong cast. Special mention to James Woods for richly grasping the text and to Sarah Langford for allowing the audience to see and experience a broken Sally. Beautiful voice passionate singing. The Pastiche number of One More Kiss brought tears to my eyes. Magical. Congrats to the entire team.

The young, fresh faced cast put an incredible spin on the iconic characters of HAIR, and director Sarah Kyle clearly understood the essence of the much beloved show. Every move was in unison, lighting was appropriately “far out,” and everything was done on cue. There was no dull moment in the Wavestage production of HAIR.
