In Rehearsal for The Hunchback of Notre Dame

On the grand and opulent scale of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast arises another epic production at Wavestage; THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME plays a limited one-week engagement July 6-8, 2018 at Isabel Bader Theatre. This production is the long-awaited musical adaptation of the beloved Disney film. The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame resound through the famed cathedral in 15th-century Paris. The hunchback, Quasimodo, observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, Quasimodo escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all. A sweeping score and powerful story make THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME an instant classic.

From Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, comes a brand new collaboration that has been called a “Brilliant Miracle”.

Featuring a 61-person, all-Canadian cast and choir. Nicholas Cunha will star as Quasimodo, the deformed and hard-of-hearing bellringer who longs to be “Out There”. David Smith appears as the villainous Archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo. They are joined by Alyssa Curto as Esmeralda, Conor Murphy as Captain Phoebus de Martin and Billy Arthur as Clopin.
