Announcing the Wavestage Choir
Raise your voice in the new Wavestage Choir!
Wavestage Theatre Company's new voice program is bringing people who love to sing together. Beginning January 2016 on Monday nights at 6:45pm at Trinity Hall in Newmarket. We are committed to the enrichment of singers lives through the learning and performing of choral works. Join us for the experience and unique camaraderie of fine choral singing!
The Wavestage Choir is an elite all ages troupe. Weekly practices emphasize learning and performing musical, and lessons in vocal technique, including proper breathing, rhythm, dynamics, timbre, correct diction, and phrasing.
Music selections will be moving, enlightening, enlivening, healing, inspirational, fun, and will include a variety of musical styles. This includes, but is not limited to, gospel, pop, classical, folk, musical theatre, and cinema.
This Choir gives singers a chance to tap into the musical soul that lies within us and create something bigger than any of us could do on our own!
Prerequisites:
- You love to sing!
- A brief vocal audition to establish voice type and level.
- You are available Monday's 6:45-7:45PM beginning January 18, 2016.
- You are over the age 10.
Fee: $175 + hst
Term: January to May - 10 classes and a final performance Wednesday, May 4 at Aurora Cultural Centre
This class will be taught by Wavestage Artistic Director Sarah Langford. Sarah has over 25 years of professional teaching experience and has developed the voices of over 1000 students. Sarah has had an international career performing in leading operatic roles across Europe and North America. She was a guest soloist for the Vatican and the Billy Graham ministry. Sarah has two solo recordings and has won five international operatic competitions. She has also been the recipient of seven awards for her contributions to the arts over the years.
