RAGTIME Table Read

Ragtime is coming to the GTA this summer! We are thrilled to be producing the show "of the century" this summer at Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.

Voted by Time Magazine as among the Top 100 Best novels of the last century, this sweeping musical portrait of early 20th century America tells the powerful tale of a white, upper-middle class family, an African American couple, and an Eastern European immigrant escaping to America with his daughter, as they all confront the timeless contradictions of wealth, poverty, freedom, prejudice, hope, and despair in pursuit of the American Dream.

Don't miss the show of the summer!

Unfolding through the fiery rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley, and the vibrant klezmer of the Lower East Side, this vivid and unforgettable Tony-winning score bursts onto the stage “on the wheels of a dream” in what will be the largest and most epic production ever staged at Wavestage Theatre Company.

The cast of Ragtime joined together for the first time this past weekend to perform a table read of the show. The talent in the room was undeniably palpable! We have collected the best of the best to perform this raw and energetic show, and we can't wait to share it all with our audiences this July.

In the meantime, enjoy this sneak peek of our table read!

The cast can't wait to get started with staging and choreography! Here's what they had to say after the read through:

I have to say what an amazing cast Wavestage has put together. It was so humbling to do the read through with such talented people today. I can’t wait to tell these stories with all of you.
— Manuele Mizzi (Tateh)
Wow, wow, WOW! Just got back from the read/sing through for RAGTIME. Based on pure vocal talent, this may be the best cast I have ever worked with! Feeling excited to share the stage in July with such a talented group!
— Lauren Lazar (Mother)
