It's no easy feat being the youngest lead performers in any production, but our two shining stars, Lucas Geuzebroek and Ashley Romanovich, are loving being Chip in Beauty and the Beast! We are officially under a week away from opening night of Beauty and the Beast at Newmarket Theatre! Just in time for tech week, we wanted to introduce two of the shining stars of our cast. Hunter Agnew will be seen as Lumiere after previously performing in Wavestage productions such as Titanic and Big Fish (Don Price). Michael Barker makes a grand return to Wavestage as Cogsworth. Long-term Wavestage audiences will remember him from our productions of Cabaret (Emcee) and Oliver (Fagin).

There were over 200 applicants for this role alone - our leading lady emerged from the sea of hopefuls! Earlier this month, our cast of Beauty and the Beast gathered for the first time to perform a table read of this exciting production! In these first few hours we began to see this "tale as old as time" step off of the page and come to life. We are thrilled to have such a multi-talented cast and will be sharing many more behind-the-scenes sneak peeks in the coming weeks as we dive into rehearsals!

On Sunday, December 3, the students of our Youth Performance Academy presented a black box performance of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at Newmarket's Old Town Hall. The young performers had been rehearsing since September; weekly practices furthered their skills in dance, singing, and acting.
Big Fish, The Musical is making its way to Newmarket Theatre this January. The cast recently joined for their first table read and we are thrilled to share a peek behind-the-scenes at this exciting rehearsal. The table read was truly a high-energy event and unlike any table read we've seen. Cast members broke out into laughter, Alabama stompin', and tears as they told this heartwarming tale together for the first time.
